danvil plans: request for refund

The night after I signed up for a Policy in Danvil Plans, I had a hard time sleeping because I suddenly gave 6,650 bucks without much thought or second opinion from another person. That night, I researched about some available information on the net about danvil plans. I googled ‘danvil plans scam‘ to make sure if the former Family First company was legit or not. I saw a number of experiences and blog entries from different people who have also signed up for their own policies and felt that they were hypnotized and were scammed.

Just to be fair, I didn’t think the company was a scam; I just realized that the I was not comfortable with their plan that’s why I wanted to get my money back. But I felt hopeless because I was told that it’s non-refundable.

However, upon searching more information online, I was able to find a video feature from ABS-CBN’s “Probe” with Gina Cruz (Danvil’s VP for Corporate Communications) stating that “for whatever reason, so long as the plan holder goes back within 24 hours, we can give him/her a refund”.

I submitted my letter of cancellation and request for refund within 24 hours in SM North Edsa and it was received by another rep who was substituting her managers as she claimed that her managers were not around.

She was helpful in assisting me and informed me that she was going to forward it to the SM Megamall branch. I asked her a favor to follow it up since I don’t have any other means to contact the Megamall branch because that was my last day to be in Manila. She told me she called the Megamall branch but there was no assurance since it’s still subject for approval by the “higher management”.

I was able to find a link fortunately for people who have the same experience. I was also able to read through plan holder’s who have successfully gotten their money back after 24 hours of submitting their request for refund. I was able to stumble upon a woman who was able to get her money back after how many letters to the SEC (Security of Exchange and Commission)  and such. It gave me a spark of hope to anticipate that I could get my money back.

So I just had to wait for time for a response.

  1. pano po ba mag file ng complain sa sec??? isa din po ako sa biktima ng danvil last year pa at 20 plang akko nun nag sinungaling lang ako

  2. i went to megamall last friday when i bumped into Danvil’s agent… well let’s just say it also happened to me. but having to realize about it, i too are having sleepless nights… then, just on the news that an insurance company’s licence was canceled due to lack of fund. so i search on the net and found this… shocking but sumhow comforting… but the truth is, refundable or not, my main concern is just to cancel my plan so dat i dnt end up paying monthly without the assurance of getting my money in the future. im not mad at the people who talked to me into dis, somehow let’s face it “mhrap tlga kumita ng pera at mgtrabaho”. they’re just doing their job and it’s really up to u to decide whether to dive in or not. It thought me a real lesson. I have filed for my cancellation also, So thank you for this post.

  3. hi chiiichi, im not so sure about how to file a complaint through SEC, because what i did is just directly process the request for cancellation through Danvil Plans itself. hope you can get your voice heard.

  4. Dhorz: yeah, there was even a point in the news that one Endowment Plan company is also having a problem that the SEC is still not announcing. hey dhorz, you can call Danvil and have the plan cancelled right away. What I did was aside from sending a letter of request for refund and cancellation within 24 hours, I also called my credit card company not to have any transactions granted under Danvil just to be sure that I won’t get deducted from my credit account. Good luck with your cancellation request! :)

  5. Oh hi everyone…..

I am a victim of this Danvil Plan too. Went home for a holiday sa pinas last january 2009 and the day before my flight back to Vancouver, I went to SM fairview and there my nightmare started. So for short, they got $2,600 cdn from my master card. I was lured into that shit hole and they made me sit down with an agent explaining everything about danvil. Then she told me if she can have my credit card, kasi e-check land daw muna nya if i’m approve or not. But pag-balik nya nag-withdraw na siya ng $2,600 cdn, without asking my consent and non-refundable daw. I did’nt really mind because 45 mins na promise nila naging 5 hrs na! So all i wanted to do is get out of that shithole!.

Back in Vancouver, a month after prior to the first withdrawal nila sa credit card ko, I called my credit card to cancel my card. For me, Okay na lang sa akin if i lost that $2,600 cdn, kaysa naman continue sila mag-withdraw for the next five years or so and lost everything!. And now my mind is back to normal again.

  6. Bradon: Hi, thank you for sharing your story. Geez. $2300 is really a lot.

  7. i was also a victim of this DEVIL plan , I mean DANVIL plans…hehehe… That time (year 2007) im into rushed because Im on my way to our store. Then a lady asked me If I want an umbrella. Its free. Because of I dont want to buy a new umbrella (it was raining hard outside and i forgot to bring my umbrella) I grab the umbrella and after that, I found myself sitting in their office listening. I know they are right. You need to be insured but after 45 minutes She asked me If I liked the IDea. I said ” Youre right! But, I think I’ll be back some other time because I need to go to our shop” She told me why not now? What will happen if after this you’ll get killed? If you will enroll to our plan now, from the moment you stepped out , you are insured. I said Yeah right.. Again she explained what she discuss 45 minutes ago.. Pauuilit-ulit-ulit-ulit.. Im so late na. I just answered her back ” TANG INA MO! TANG INA MO!” everytime shes asking me just to dismay her but 45minutes became 5 hours. I was terminated in our company because of that incident. So after 5 hours she asked me Do you really have a card? May I see it? I said yes. Then ako naman si TANGA.. She grab it then after that siniwipe nya na pala.. huhuhu. I just heard they are CLAPPING (YEHEY we have a new victim) I mean Congratulations. Welcome to your new family.. etchos! FUCKING SHIT Up to now.. di ko na mababawi lahat ng ipinundar ko sa kanila.. siguro ituituloy ko na lang para after 5 years makuha ko rin.. wala naman akong choice kesa itigil ko.

  8. oh wow, that is indeed a very bad story. you can really see how the marketing agents of danvil are when it comes to really pursuing you to get their policies. 5 hours as well! to think that you got fired because of it. What I hated was the term “check” when they’re going to use your credit card. It turns out that they’ve already deducted the amount from your balance!

  9. i was also a victim of a danvil plans, they say there not danvil but phil.prudential life plans. i was at sm north and was planing to buy a new phone since i just got back from the country because im a seaman..and because im “madali madala sa mga” sales talk i don’t know what i just did kung bakit ako kumagat sa kanila nung araw na yon..since then pag uwi ko ng province hindi ako makatulog and hindi ako mapakali sa ginawa ko..so what i did the day i went back to manila i hurriedly cancelled my plan through sm north danvil mismo because i’ve also checked through the internet na marami nga silang scams aka prudential life..and good thing they did’nt refuse to cancel my plan and right now they say that i”ll get my money back in a month or 45 days… its 24,000 pesos of my savings and there just goin to steal it? no way! if i still did’nt get my money back within 30 days where should i complain?

  10. Ed Earns! Thank you so much for this blog…..

  11. no problem Brandon! :)

Oo nga hirap pumasok pala sa ganito, nag exit na ako abroad at di na nakapaghulog, nag ask ako ng refund after more than a year na contribution + yung hiningi nilang more than Php5,000 nung binola bola ako sa megamall, kaengotan ko kumagat ako, nagdecide ako mag stop, unfortunately sinabi nilang wala akong mare-refund, na hold up ng more than 20k ng mga hayop….gusto ko tlgang makuh dahil pinaghirapan ko iyon, kaso yun daw ang policy nila, ang mang hold up.
