Danvil Plans Inc: letter for cancellation and refund

Below is my letter for cancellation and refund when I went to SM North Edsa the day I enrolled for a policy in Danvil Plans Inc. the previous day at SM Megamall.

I wrote this impromptu which was quite draining since I didn’t have a draft paper and I immediately wrote it then and there. But I’m happy that I was able to write this within 24 hours after I successfully applied for one of their plans.

To whom this may concern,

I, Ed******** , would like to cancel the Danvil Plan with policy number PPL****** that I applied for yesterday, October 30, 2008.  In line with this, I would request for my initial deposit of P6, 650.00 (P5, 000.00 taken from my BPI Savings Account, and P1, 650.00 through cash) to be fully refunded. The reason for this cancellation and refund is because I’ve discussed this matter with my immediate family and thought this through. Because I am unable to comply with the said agreement that I applied for, it would be wiser for me to invest my money to a business that I plan to venture. I did not expect that the amount that was charged (initial deposit) directly from my savings. Although I did enter my pin number and the agent that handled my application (*********) was nice, I was not in my best mode to sign those contracts. I immediately affixed my signature without carefully reading the policies and guidelines. After I became a successful plan holder, I was able to think things over and realized I’m not comfortable with this agreement.

I hope you will grant this request for cancellation and refund as I am still within the 24-hour time period to request and get it.

After writing this letter for cancellation, it was later taken by the agent who assisted me, and then affixed her signature and gave me another copy of this letter. I was told to just wait about 30-45 business days for it to be processed.

So I waited in Cebu since I went home then already. I didn’t really put much focus to it because I didn’t want to expect much. Patience wasn’t much of an issue.

  1. i have 1 question, u sed that it happen october 2008, after you have request for cancellation and refund, did they still deduct u for ur 1st month of payment?

  2. not anymore dhorz, I also called my credit card company to make sure that I won’t get deducted. You can call them now since it’s your right what type of transactions you want to have in your account. Just have an agent prohibit any transaction from Danvil.

  3. a while ago. i called my bank. HSBC. and said nga na kanina.. napacancel ko yung account/transaction ko from danvil. ang sabi ng CS representative. dapat, hindi na mapost yun Php16800 creditted from my hsbc account kung talagang napacancel ko yung account ko. the moment na nagpost siya as creditted transaction sa aking hsbc account, thats the time daw na magfile ng dispute yung hsbc and dun na rin sila mamamagitan.

    somehow i feel relieved kahit wala ung SOA ko with status cancel upon inception, ang pinanghahawakan ko nalang is yung cancellation letter ko signed by their manager.

    good thing i also have my online hsbc account para namomonitor ko. any suggestions pa? i would gladly appreciate any help.

  4. Hao: It’s good that you were able to call your bank. This is to ensure that no transaction will happen between Danvil Plans and your credit card. Actually, what I only had as well was the letter of cancellation with the affixed signature from the manager. By the way, were you able to cancel it within 24 hours? Because on my end, that’s what I did and that’s what also made me more confident. Because of a video posted on Youtube about the VP stating that as soon as you report your cancellation within 24 hours, they can give the money back with due process.

    sana nga malaking tulong tong blog mo sakin..just like the others, i went through the same na mala-forced application sa kanila..so i would be cancelling my application sana..isang week din akong d nila pinatulog ha.. :’(

  11. hi good morning kumuha po ako sa philprudentiallife last oct 16 sa sm fairview nag pay ako ng 9500 BPI ko.
    but ng snabi ko sa family ung tungkol dun hnd sila pumayag kaya ngaun gus2 ko n pong i re found pano po ba ang gagawin ko?

  12. that is a hard case rose. on my end, i requested for the refund within 24 hours upon application. I was able to hear about other customers who blogged about the whole situation with a similar case as yours. Try to contact the SEC (Securities & Exchange Commission) about it.

  14. hi ed oky n wth in 30 days maibabalik n ung per ko sa ATM ko.
    nag pagawa lang ako ng letter of atty wth rotary at pinasa ko sa kanila kanina.
    at un na bingyan at panpirma nya ko ng letter n ang nkasulat ma refund ko n ung pera ko with in 30 days..
    ngun mg check n lang ako ng ATM ko.
    office pala ng DANVIL ung office nila sa SM FAIRVIEW knina ko lang napuna..

  15. hi ed, my letter of cancellation was just simple..stating that i’m totally cancelling my plans, not like your letter with complete info. and with a refund word but it was signed by there manager stating that i’m cancelling my account good thing a cs was helpful she said it will be automatically charged back through my account, i’ll just have to inquire by the next 30 to 45 days..do you think i’ll get ny money back? i hope so

  16. loice: hi loice. thanks for your long comment. i believe you can complain at the SEC. unfortunately i don’t have their contact number. I’m just glad that I was able to search for some information about the company. I was just not comfortable with their plan. Yes, my letter was really long, would you believe I wrote it on the spot? I didn’t want to mess up or have any erasures too. hehe. I just wanted to make sure they understand the reason why I wanted to get my money back. At least I had a back-up because of that Youtube video wherein the VP said that we can get it refunded within 24 hours upon signing up.

    I believe you can get your money back as well considering that they signed the letter. Though it would be best to follow it up with them to ensure that the cancellation and refund would be processed. I also made sure that I put the word ‘REFUND’ in the letter. Because ‘cancellation’ is a totally different from the refund. Thank you again for your comment. I hope people will be enlightened.

  17. rose: that’s good news for you! at least there’s already that hope that you can get your money back. It’s good as well that you’re in Manila since on my part, I had to call long distance in order to follow up with my request for cancellation and refund from danvil plans. There were times wherein I had to wait a long time on hold since there were no operators/agents available to take my answer and those were already pesos wasted because of the minutes running on the phone.

  18. hi again ed, im afraid following up my money back thing will not happen because im leaving again the country this Dec.5 and the 30th bussiness day since i filed a cancellation was Dec.10, so im really hoping they will give my mobey back its 24,000 of my savings and i was so stupid giving it at all to them if they won’t give it back..I am so freakin pissed!!grrrrrr…

I`ve been an active member of danvil since 2006(formerly berkley) up to now.I really want to cancel my account with them ever since from the start because I had my doubts already.It feels like I`ve been cheated blaming myself for my mistake.Since I don`t want to give them my credit card account I decided to pay it cash annually.Please help me what should I do?My total cash payment is 50,000 plus already.I`m so afraid to cancel my account with them since they said it will not be refunded in full.I would really appreciate it if someone can give me an advice in regard to this matter.I reallt really need HELP….PLEEEEAAASEEEE!!!!!

  20. hi loice: when will you be coming back? I believe you can just have somebody to call Danvil Plans and inquire about the status. Because on my case, I just called them up to check if it’s already refunded and requested a colleague at work to get it in Manila (I’m in Cebu) who was planning to visit there. With all the necessary documents, he was able to get it. You don’t have to be there, just have somebody to call them.

  23. hi dhorz, not anymore. they didn’t deduct me since i also called my credit card bank to ensure that there will be no other deductions from danvil plans from my credit card. you can also call your bank just to be safe.

  25. oh i have a same problems w/ u guy but, the agents used to harass me just to signed up all the documents pertaining to the plan that they are selling w/c is the philippine prudential life, this freaky things happend to me last nov 2008..am just asking guys if i can refund my initial deposit coz` my credit card company did not honored my dispute letter wherein i was faxed them wherein 24 hours when the time they swapped my card..too bad yesterday we went to sm north edsa, they have another victims…its so bad sm management is not aware this kind of stuff inside their establishment.

    sa akin bad news… i dont know if i will continue may plan/// 180k na yong nahulog ko for 2 years… right now.. 6 months na akong di nakapagbayad because of the recession last year,,, now ok na ulit job.. but im afraid to continue it, pero sayang naman kung e preterminate.. what shall i do guys?

  28. Hi might say i’m also the latest victim of the said phil. prudential life. I signed the policy last feb 11, 2010 & of course the same story as others. I came back after 3 days to cancel but unfortunately i failed cause they threatened me that i might lose my money. They allowed me to downgrade my policy & charge back the rest of the money assuring that i can transact with my credit card company to divide the payments i 6 mos. After returning from my vacation coz i’m working abroad i found out it’s not true. I’ve called the several times & last march 8 i faxed a cancellation letter to them which they will submit to the management but i don’t have any assurance at all. I just hope everything would be fine. It’s really a nightmare in my part! I tried to send e-mail to SEC but haven’t rcv any response yet.

  29. nbiktima din po aq ng danvil prudential life my initial deposit is P12,035 na kinuha nla sa ATM q.ask q lng po kung mbblik ba ung initial deposit q sa account q,ngfile na po aq ng cancellation letter nung march 10,2010.sv nla wait lng ng 30-45 days pra mbalik ung money q,but im worried po kc wla aq letter na mbbalik ung money q in 30-45 days,i only have the SOA, nad the cancelation letter that signed by one of agent. plz help me po..give me some advise plzzzz!!!!!!!!

  30. Hello Molested, we are on the same boat 35,000 na naihulog ko sa Danvil and I want to refund it pero they told me 10% lang ang marerefund. Almost a year na akong di nakabayad since my sister handled my atm, pero gusto ko syang habulin(Danvil) it’s alot of money pa rin just to give it to the company like that. Any advice from you guys pls….

  31. I didn’t get a signed letter of cancellation with a signature from the manager but I got my SOA stated with Cancelled with Inception. Is that enough assurance that they will no longer charge me monthly? Well what I got was a copy of the letter cancellation intent with a signature of the CSR who signed (received) it. I wonder if it’s enough.

  33. bkt po ganon itong PHILIPPINE PRUDENTIAL LIFE last june 26 2010 po ako na recruit nila tapos gusto ko po ipacancelled kasi po kailangan ko yong pera for emergency sinabi ko po sa mga parents ko regarding dito sa PPL so ang reactions po nila ayaw at ipahinto ko daw. after 15dys bumalik ako sa opis nila sa sm north ibang tao n nmn pinaharap po sakin my purpose is kung bkit po ako bumalik sakanila para ipacanceeled ko at refund yong per almost 14,010.00 ang kinuha nila sakin sa katulad ko first timer po. my chance pa po ba ako makuha yong pera kinuha nila sakin PAKITULUNGAN NYO NAMAN PO AKO. kc po halos dugo`t pawis ang pinuhunan ko sa pera mawawala sakin….

  35. ako rin gusto ko ng iwithdraw ang pera ko sa DANVIL PLANS na manloloko na yan. They got 24K from my ccard as the initial deposit, and bumalik ako after 15days ayaw na nilang irefund ung pera, dinowngrade nlang nila. But still I am not happy tlga until now. It started Nov2009 and almost 1 year nko ngbabayad. And fyi pips, have u watched XXX last December 2010? I think that is Dec17 or 21, not so sure of the date, nabuking sila ng XXX (channel 2) kay Erwin Tulfo yata un. And XXX has a followup scene sa kanila just this Jan 3, 2011. Wala silang right pala manloko ng tao sa mga malls..PLEASE somebody help gusto ko na kunin lahat ng perang naihulog ko sa knila mga manloloko sila. Anu dpat gawin???

    I got suckered doing the same thing but I cancelled my policy within 24 hours. Now, there’s this sword of Damocles over my head and I have to deal with it for 30-45 days :(

  41. Thanks Ed. My policy was for Philippine Prudential Life but I’ve read in some blogs that it’s the same as Danvil Plans.

    Anyhow, I got my deposit credited back to my account already. Pretty fast too as I got it 10 working days after my cancellation :)

  43. Hello po, ask ko lng po kung may kayong direct contact person, number or email sa Philippines Prudentail life, kc I want to terminate my plan in w/c nakuha ko pa un under danvil last 2006. Then through research at nagtanong-tanong ako this past few days, tagilid na kc ung standing ng mga pre-need plans, so Id rather take my money kahit lugi na sa binayad ko than wait till maturiy w/c is very risky if that time maibigay nla lahat ung maturity value sakin.. Need your help kc hirap me communicate sa knila sa customer service email eh, d cla agad nag uurgent reply sa mga mails ko in w/c pangit ung systema nla sa customer service…

  44. Hi. I cancelled my plan last year pa. But i didn’t get any notice about it. It was not deducted to my credit card pero di ko pa macontact ang danvil and i want a refund. I’m not sure how much na ang nailagay ko sa plan. What will i do?
