reformatted my laptop

waiting and waiting

Yep, the set up is formatting. I had to reinstall the Operating system on my laptop because of updates that I installed that came up with a black screen whenever I brought up the Windows environment. I couldn’t even access the Safe Mode.  Now I had to fend for myself as I didn’t want to bother the original IT Pro who installed it in the first place. He told me not to install any updates as the XP that’s installed in my PC already had the latest service pack. I didn’t want to install a Vista because I don’t like it. Issues with lagging and slowness would suffice if ever I were to put it.

To think that I needed the proper drivers because the HP laptop that I have is based on a Vista platform. Good thing I was able to properly locate what I needed to download. Now I should be more careful already.

  1. Nice blog. I read several of your posts and it’s very interesting. I was reading this post regarding the Vista platform and must say I had to download new drivers on my computer not long after I bought it. It is a Vista platform, but I really haven’t had any trouble once I got a few things fixed.

  2. You were brave to do it on your own without your IT guy I am always scared I will botch it all up so I have never ventured something like that on my own. Glad your laptop is working again

  3. frostygirl: actually, i lost my data from my back up drive which made me all the more screwed. hehe. but at least i was able to back up using dvds. :)

  4. Brena, I don’t like Windows Vista that’s why I really had a hard time looking for drivers, but now I don’t have any issues once I was able to install the XP operating system. Only I have fix one minor problem with the Wireless Network Controller. It seems that I have two drivers that recognizes wifi connection and I’m trying to uninstall one. Sigh. Good luck to us! :)
